South Korean medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit Inc. announced Wednesday that it will develop next-generation healthcare AI solutions with global tech giant Microsoft Corp.
The two companies plan to integrate Lunit’s cancer diagnostics AI into Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform to jointly build tailored AI services and workflow automation tools that can be used in real-world clinical environments.
One of their first initiatives will be an AI customization service, which will allow medical institutions to fine-tune AI models using their own proprietary data.
According to Lunit, this feature will provide consistently accurate diagnostic results across different hospitals.
The companies also aim to jointly develop an automated clinical workflow solution powered by agentic AI, a type of AI capable of autonomous decision-making and task execution.
The system is designed to handle the entire patient care process—from imaging to diagnosis, reporting, and follow-up appointments—reducing the burden on medical staff and speeding up patient treatment.
The AI tools developed under the partnership will be accessible to healthcare providers worldwide via Microsoft Azure, without requiring additional IT infrastructure.
“This partnership with Microsoft will be a key inflection point in delivering Lunit’s world-class AI technology to a broader global market, including the U.S.,” said Lunit CEO Brandon Suh.
Naveen Valluri, Microsoft’s general manager of health data and AI, added that the company looks forward to creating transformative AI solutions that will innovate not only radiology, but the future of healthcare by combining Lunit’s proven capabilities with Microsoft’s global infrastructure.
