Samsung Electronics Co. is set to unveil a new foldable smartphone designed to match the performance of its high-end Galaxy S Ultra series in early July 2025.
A video posted on the company’s website shows a foldable device resembling the Galaxy Z Fold, accompanied by text highlighting a larger screen, improved camera, and stronger performance as well as enhanced tools for connectivity and content creation.
Samsung stated it aims to redefine user interaction through what it calls the “Ultra” experience, combining hardware, performance, and artificial intelligence (AI) optimized for foldable form factors. The company added that the device uses AI to enhance routine tasks such as messaging, browsing, and gaming through personalized optimization.
The reference to the Ultra model - Samsung’s most advanced flagship - signals that the upcoming foldable device will feature significant performance upgrades compared to its predecessors. The video also shows a less elongated folded shape, suggesting a bar-style appearance closer to the Galaxy S series. This design change appears aimed at reducing the folded-state usability gap seen in earlier models.
Samsung will host its next Unpacked event in New York in early July 2025 to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7. This will be the company’s first New York launch event since unveiling the Flip 4 and Fold 4 in August 2022.
According to industry sources and media reports, the Z Fold 7 is expected to feature an 8.2-inch display and Android 16, with a thickness of 3.9 millimeters when unfolded.
The Z Flip 7 is projected to come with a 6.85-inch main display, 6.9-millimeter thickness, Android 15, and Samsung’s ONE UI 8 interface. Analysts also suggest that Samsung could equip the domestic version of the Z Flip 7 with its in-house application processor, the Exynos 2500.
