CJ Cheiljedang Corp. is accelerating its global expansion with the launch of its Korean fried chicken in Australia.
The company announced on Monday that it has introduced Bibigo Korean Style Fried Chicken at Woolworths, Australia’s largest supermarket chain.
This marks the first time Bibigo chicken is being sold in Australia, with the product locally produced.
Another major supermarket chain, IGA, will begin selling Bibigo chicken from August 2025 onwards.
The new offerings come in two flavors: sweet and spicy sauce and soy honey sauce. They are designed for easy home preparation in ovens or air fryers, with Korean-style sauces packaged separately so consumers can adjust quantities to their taste.
Bibigo Korean Style Fried Chicken has established a local production system and plans to continue launching products tailored to Australian consumer trends.
CJ Cheiljedang is also considering local production of Bibigo Vegetable Steamed Dumplings, one of its popular products in Australia.
Since introducing locally manufactured Bibigo dumplings in 2023, the company has expanded its product lineup in Australia and began local production of Bibigo Sliced Napa Cabbage Kimchi in March 2024.
Cha Yoo-jin, who heads the company’s Oceania subsidiary, said CJ Cheiljedang will continue promoting Korean food culture with a diverse range of products.
