The South Korean operator of mobile financial app Toss said on Tuesday that it signed a strategic agreement with GS Caltex to deploy payment terminals with functions including facial recognition features at gas stations nationwide.
Under the deal, Viva Republica subsidiary Toss Place will first conduct usability tests to adapt its Toss Front terminals for fuel stations before gradually expanding the rollout across gas stations operated by GS Caltex throughout Korea.
“We aim to introduce various follow-up services that maximize user convenience in a phased manner,” a Toss Place spokesperson said. “We will create a new standard for gas station customer experience by combining both companies’ core capabilities.”
