Nexen Tire Co. announced on Wednesday that it has successfully developed a tire made with 70 percent sustainable raw materials, marking a significant step toward eco-friendly manufacturing.

This initiative aligns with tightening environmental regulations in Europe and other advanced markets. Nexen Tire has focused on reducing resource consumption and environmental impact during the production process.

The latest breakthrough incorporates 53 percent bio-based renewable materials and 17 percent recycled materials, bringing the total share of sustainable components to 70 percent, up from the previous 52 percent.

Although further research and development are needed before commercialization, Nexen Tire aims to achieve 100 percent sustainability in raw materials by 2045.
