Naver Webtoon Ltd. announced Tuesday that it will launch a new short-form animation platform in September, aiming to reimagine how webtoons are enjoyed through short-form video content.
The platform, called Cuts, will offer condensed versions of existing webtoons alongside user-generated content (UGC) from both amateur and professional creators.
Anyone will be able to upload their own short-form animated videos, making Cuts a new hub for creative storytelling.
The first featured content will be a short animated comic titled “A Day in the Life of Ms. Kim Ae-yong (translated),” a slice-of-life comedy starring Ae-yong the cat—one of the fan-favorite characters from “My Daughter Is a Zombie.”
Naver Webtoon also plans to launch additional original series by popular webtoon artists exclusively on the new platform.
The rollout of Cuts reflects a broader trend as Naver integrates short-form content into its key services amid the global popularity of formats like Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
