LS Cable & System Ltd. announced the launch of South Korea’s first high-flex industrial USB cable, engineered to withstand over 1 million bending cycles without compromising performance, as a breakthrough in industrial connectivity.

The new cable is designed for high durability and reliability, enabling high-speed data transmission even after extensive repetitive motion. This far surpasses the performance of comparable imported products from Germany and Taiwan, which typically experience degradation or breakage after 300,000 to 400,000 cycles, giving the Korean cable maker’s product a lifespan that is roughly three times longer.

In addition to its mechanical resilience, the cable complies with over 10 international standards that cover aspects including connectivity, insulation, contact resistance, shock, and vibration performance. It also received international certification from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA).

Given its superior performance, the product is expected to be used in a wide range of automated manufacturing systems, particularly in industries such as semiconductors, displays, and secondary batteries. It is also well-suited for devices subject to frequent motion, including IP cameras, CCTV systems, and IoT equipment.

LS Cable & System explained that the product is a meaningful achievement in terms of localization and technological competitiveness as demand for cables for process equipment requiring highly reliable communications increases along with the spread of industrial automation.

The cable was co-developed with Kangwon Electronics Co., with LS Cable & System leading design and production and Kangwon Electronics contributing by integrating customer feedback and market requirements to enhance the product’s usability and commercial readiness.

“Demand for high-durability USB cables is steadily increasing due to the expansion of industrial automation and smart factories,” an LS Cable & System official said, adding, “We will continue to expand highly reliable data transmission solutions specialized for smart manufacturing environments.”
