Shinsegae Food CEO marks 30th year with factory visit

Shinsegae Food Co. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kang Seung-hyob marked the company’s 30th anniversary with a field visit to promote on-site safety management on Tuesday.

Instead of holding a formal celebration, Kang visited the company’s Osan plant on Tuesday to observe operations and encourage frontline workers.

The decision to forego a headquarters ceremony reflects the company’s broader push to prioritize workplace safety and improve working conditions, Shinsegae Food said.

“Ensuring a safe and pleasant working environment is our top management priority,” the company added. “Instead of hosting a corporate event, the CEO visited the factory to directly engage with employees on-site.”

Shinsegae Food has recently ramped up efforts to enhance safety across its production facilities. New protective measures include interlock systems that automatically halt equipment when entanglement risks are detected, as well as lockout-tagout (LOTO) systems that prevent machines from operating until repairs are completed.

These systems have been implemented at all production sites, including the Osan facility.
