LG Energy Solution Ltd. formed a battery recycling joint venture (JV) with Derichebourg SA (DBG), a French metal recycling and environmental services company, the company announced on Tuesday.

The two companies plan to begin construction in 2026 in Bruyères-sur-Oise, in northern France’s Val-d’Oise region, with full-scale operations slated for 2027. The partnership is the first battery recycling collaboration between South Korea and Europe.

The facility will focus on preprocessing and is expected to handle over 20,000 tons of end-of-life batteries and battery manufacturing scrap annually.
