Samsung Display Co. will unveil two innovative quantum dot (QD)-organic light-emitting diode (OLED) products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025.

The company announced on Monday that it will debut the world’s first 27-inch ultra-high definition (UHD) gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, alongside a 27-inch 500Hz quad high definition (QHD) model, which features the highest refresh rate in its class. The CES 2025 event will begin in Las Vegas on Tuesday (local time).

The 27-inch UHD panel developed by Samsung Display offers an impressive pixel density of 160 pixels per inch (PPI), delivering exceptionally sharp image quality. In comparison to the existing 31.5-inch UHD model (140 PPI), the 27-inch version provides a higher PPI and more detailed visuals.

“The higher the PPI, the clearer the image when zooming in on text or images, making it ideal for tasks such as photo editing and video production,” the company explained. “It also enhances the immersive experience when watching movies or playing games.”

Samsung Display’s 27-inch QHD product, which will also debut at CES 2025, features a refresh rate of 500Hz - currently the highest among self-emissive monitors. The company highlighted that the combination of the fast refresh rate and the quick response time (0.03ms) inherent to self-emissive displays results in smooth transitions and fluid visuals, particularly for fast-moving games or sports broadcasts.

“The 27-inch model accounts for over a quarter of the entire monitor market, and the popularity of 27-inch gaming monitors is growing rapidly,” Samsung Display noted, expressing high expectations that these new products will have a significant impact on the gaming monitor market.

Global manufacturers, including Samsung Electronics Co., Asus Computer International, and MSI Computer Corp., recently revealed their 2025 monitor lineups, forecasting new product releases featuring this advanced panel. Samsung Display plans to begin full-scale mass production of both models in the first half of the year.
