GS25, a major convenience store chain in South Korea, is expanding its quick commerce offerings by introducing new ready-to-deliver food items, including chicken, pizza, and tteokbokki.

The move is part of the company’s effort to enhance its competitiveness in the growing quick commerce market, which delivers products within one to two hours of ordering. GS25 announced on Monday that it will launch three new products— Gangryeokgye Chicken, Tteokbokki Party Pack, and Go Pizza Cheddar Pepperoni—starting on Thursday.

Delivery foods like chicken and pizza have become staple items ordered through delivery apps, and with these new additions, GS25 aims to broaden its quick commerce offerings beyond daily necessities and ready-to-eat meals, giving customers more meal options.

Industry analysts project that Korea’s quick commerce market will reach 5 trillion won ($3.71 billion) by 2025, a fourteen-fold increase from 350 billion won in 2020.

From January to September of this year, sales from GS25’s quick commerce orders through its mobile app “Our Neighborhood GS” saw substantial growth, with delivery sales up 75.7 percent and pickup orders surging 282.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

The rise reflects the growing trend of customers pre-ordering items for delivery or quick pickup from convenience stores.

GS Retail attributes the success to services like exclusive quick commerce promotions, complimentary item storage, and personalized product recommendations based on customer purchase data.

Among the new offerings, Gangryeokgye Chicken, from GS25’s in-house chicken brand Chicken25, features a whole chicken in a classic fried style, priced at 8,900 won. For October, customers can enjoy a 2,000 won discount, making it available for just 6,900 won.

The Tteokbokki Party Pack includes rice cakes, chewy noodles, fish cakes, and boiled eggs, all packaged in a delivery container. Customers can simply add water and cook the entire meal in the container. This product is priced at 9,900 won, with a 2,000 won discount available for the month of October. Additionally, GS25 stores equipped with Go Pizza systems will offer the new Cheddar Pepperoni Pizza, baked fresh on-site.
