Renew System Co., a South Korean waterproofing company, is ramping up efforts to expand its international presence after its flagship sealant, Turbo-Seal, was designated as a disaster safety innovation by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2024.
Turbo-Seal, a non-hardening waterproof material, maintains its adhesion under water and withstands extreme temperatures from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius.
Developed over 26 years, the product has proven effective in long-term leak prevention at major facilities such as Incheon International Airport tunnels, KT Corp.’s underground communication lines, and the National Folk Museum of Korea.
“Leaks are not just construction flaws—they are disasters,” said Chie Executive Officer James Lee, during a recent press briefing at the company’s factory in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province. “We’ve been dedicated to solving this issue through sustainable materials and advanced waterproofing solutions.”
The company’s one-component adhesive membrane using recycled rubber was named one of Korea’s Top 10 New Technologies in 2013 and has received two Presidential Citations and two IR52 Jang Young-shil Awards.
Renew System has carried out over 2,500 leak repair projects in 29 countries, including Boston’s Big Dig, Singapore’s Marina Bay highway, and Tokyo’s Kanda River tunnel.
The company posted 16.2 billion won ($11.6 million) in revenue last year and aims to reach 20 billion won this year.
