South Korean quantum computer stocks are on a roller coaster ride amid industry debate on the timeline for the commercialization of quantum computers.
Shares of Korea Advanced Materials Co. were trading at 4,945 won ($3.39) as of 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, up 10.87 percent from the previous session.
Shares of ther quantum computing stocks also gained.
Shares of Coweaver Co. rose 19.83 percent to 6,950 won, Secucen Co. increased 12.45 percent to 2,620 won, and iWIN Plus, Inc. rose 4.59 percent to 1,094 won.
The recent surge in quantum computing stocks comes after remarks by Nvidia Corp. Founder and CEO Jensen Huang and Meta Platforms Inc. Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg regarding quantum computers.
They noted that practical use of the computers was likely two decades away.
The stocks rebounded on Wednesday after a decline on Tuesday.
The uptick was driven by the gains in quantum computing stocks on the New York Stock Exchange overnight, including IonQ (5.92 percent), Rigetti Computing (47.93 percent), and Quantum Computing (13.96 percent).
