Taihan Cable & Solution Co. has teamed up with a global company to develop a next-generation superconducting cable with higher efficiency than existing models.
Taihan Cable announced on Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Irish cable firm SuperNode Ltd. on Tuesday to jointly develop next-generation superconducting cables.
The signing ceremony was attended by key executives, including Taihan Cable & Solution Vice Chairman Song Jong-min and SuperNode CEO John Fitzgerald.
Under the partnership, the two companies plan to co-develop high-performance superconducting cables that are more efficient and easier to install than conventional power transmission cables.
They also agreed to build a strategic partnership that includes mutual technical support in design and manufacturing, as well as collaboration on joint projects.
Superconducting cables use superconducting materials, which exhibit zero electrical resistance below a certain temperature, allowing for significantly higher transmission efficiency compared to traditional cooper or aluminum cables.
