Oh Jun-ho, head of the Future Robotics Task Force at Samsung Electronics Co., said Tuesday that Samsung holds a significant advantage in the humanoid robot business thanks to its extensive internal robotics ecosystem.
Speaking during a joint keynote at the Conference on Robot Learning and Humanoids 2025 held at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul, Oh highlighted Samsung’s dual role as both a supplier and consumer of robotics technologies. “Samsung has a large robotics ecosystem spanning from components to finished products, making it an ideal company to develop humanoid robots,” he said.
According to Oh, Samsung is directly developing actuators, robotic hands, and middleware required for humanoid robots, while also testing a wide range of humanoid form factors.
“We are exploring various humanoids to identify the optimal types and sizes suited for the market, from high-speed humanoids to heavy-duty and human-friendly models,” he said.
Oh stressed that Samsung is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in the humanoid robot industry.
“Samsung possesses capabilities across R&D, manufacturing, distribution, global supply chains, and consumer markets,” he said, citing a Morgan Stanley assessment that described Samsung as “one of the strongest candidates to take a leading role in the future global robotics market.”
