The upcoming Osaka Kansai Expo is expected to serve as a pivotal moment for advancing Korea-Japan relations toward balanced economic cooperation and future-oriented partnership, according to KOTRA President Kang Kyung-sung.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday at Prince Hotel in Osaka, Kang noted that the Korean Pavilion’s digital solutions are reinforcing the perception that Korea is the ideal partner to help Japan address its economic and social challenges.”
KOTRA is organizing Korea’s participation in the expo.
The Korean Pavilion incorporates interactive artificial intelligence and media façade technologies and has emerged as one of the event’s most popular attractions.
“Japan is keen to collaborate with Korea, particularly in advanced industries like semiconductors and secondary batteries, as well as in digital transformation and addressing aging population issues,” Kang said.
Japanese local governments and businesses have increasingly approached Korean companies for collaboration.
Kang highlighted a recent request from a top-five Japanese auto parts maker to work with a Korean firm, as well as joint manufacturing initiatives in third countries like India.
Kang emphasized the expo as a key opportunity to leverage Japan’s digital and green energy transitions, as well as supply chain restructuring, for expanding Korea’s economic footprint.
