Doosan Group is stepping up its push into the physical artificial intelligence (AI) market with the launch of its new Physical AI (PAI) Lab under its holding unit, the conglomerate announced on Tuesday.
Physical AI refers to AI systems with human-like decision-making capabilities embedded in real-world hardware such as robots and machinery. These systems perceive, analyze, and respond autonomously in various work environments.
The PAI Lab will drive the intelligence transformation of Doosan’s core hardware businesses, including robots, construction equipment, and power generation devices. It will develop a long-term roadmap for physical AI, lead future technology development, and foster broad partnerships and investments.
For instance, Doosan Robotics’ machines are expected to evolve from repetitive task assistants to robots capable of navigating unstructured settings through enhanced perception and interaction.
Meanwhile, Doosan Bobcat is aiming for self-operating machinery that can plan and execute tasks independently.
Through cross-device interactions and real-time autonomous decision-making, Doosan envisions physical AI enhancing operational efficiency across industries.
