Woori Bank will support South Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with strong technological capabilities in the water infrastructure sector to participate in Ukraine’s rebuilding projects.
At a press conference held in Milan, Italy, on Sunday (local time), on the sidelines of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting, Woori Bank Chief Executive Officer Jung Jin-wan said the Warsaw branch will oversee Ukraine rebuilding initiatives.
Jung’s focus on the water infrastructure sector reflects his view that Korean SMEs have sufficient technological competitiveness to secure project opportunities.
During his tenure as vice president two years ago, Jung signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-water), laying the foundation for globally competitive Korean SMEs in water management to participate in international rebuilding projects.
Poland, which borders Ukraine, is increasingly seen as a key hub for rebuilding initiatives. K-water has also established a presence in Poland.
