South Korea’s largest business tech show, Smart Tech Korea 2025, kicked off on Wednesday by presenting future artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The event, whose 2025 theme is “Where Technology Connects the Future,” is hosted and organized by Maeil Business Newspaper, MBN, and the Artificial Intelligence Industry Association with support from the Korea AI.Software Industry Association.
Over 500 companies have set up more than 1,500 booths in 2025, a significant increase from the previous year’s record-breaking participation.
The event focuses on Physical AI, a fusion of robotics and AI, as the next breakthrough technology following generative AI. It featured an experience zone showcasing a variety of Physical AI technologies.
Defense AI specialist company Funzin Co. showcased on-device AI technology that can be integrated with AI drones. The system can detect and identify enemy targets and even autonomously develop optimal attack strategies, all of which is processed directly on the device.
Robotics firm BRILS presented autonomous mobile robots used in logistics alongside welding robots, barista robots, and collaborative robots.
AI solution providers for industrial and content applications also drew attention, with ESTsoft unveiling its AI human technology and video dubbing solution, PERSO.ai.
Alibaba Cloud, which is competing with OpenAI and Google with its proprietary large language model (LLM) Qwen, collaborated with MegazoneSoft to open a booth introducing its enterprise AI models.
Smart Tech Korea, which runs until Friday, also serves as a business bridge through exhibitions and export consultations while the 5th Korea Artificial Intelligence Industry Awards, which recognizes leading companies in the domestic AI sector, will be held on Thursday.
