Samsung Electronics shares rose for a seventh consecutive trading session on Monday, climbing back above the 60,000 won ($44.15) mark for the first time in more than two months.

The stock was trading at 60,100 won at 9:01 a.m., up 1.69 percent from the previous session and continuing the steady climb it has maintained since May 28th, 2025. It briefly hit the 60,400-won mark shortly after the market opened, its first time above 60,000 won since March 28th.

Analysts attribute the rally to better-than-expected U.S. nonfarm payroll data released last Friday, which eased fears of an economic slowdown. Optimism also surrounds upcoming high-level trade talks between the United States and China in London, fueling gains in U.S. tech stocks and lifting the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index by 0.5 percent. Nvidia, Arm Holdings, and Qualcomm saw gains of 1.24 percent, 2.75 percent, and 1.14 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, growing expectations for favorable policies under the new administration in South Korea, including a proposed amendment to the Commercial Act aimed at enhancing shareholder rights, are giving domestic equities an additional boost.

Separately, Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Seo Young-kyo, who is running for floor leader, announced plans to push for an extra budget to support a universal relief fund and local currency initiatives.

Shares of local currency-related stocks surged on Monday following her remarks. Galaxia Moneytree was up 24.06 percent at 11,600 won at 9:24 a.m., with Kona I (18.58 percent), Webcash (9.30 percent), and Uracle (7.18 percent) also seeing sharp gains in their shares.

Seo explained at a press conference that the party would consider a relief fund or local currency as a key measure to revitalize domestic consumption, potentially boosting economic growth by around 1 percent if the extra budget is passed.

Samsung Electronics shares closed at 59,800 won, while Galaxia Moneytree shares closed at 12,150 won.
