LG Electronics has signed a strategic partnership with GS ITM to supply high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to the rapidly growing data center sector amid an AI-driven digital expansion.
The agreement, which was on May 23rd, 2025, at LG Science Park in Seoul, will allow the two companies to jointly supply HVAC systems and IT infrastructure to upcoming data centers across the greater Seoul area. LG and GS ITM also plan to provide energy diagnostic services and customized retrofits for existing centers, enabling optimized cooling efficiency and energy savings.
In data centers, system integrators such as GS ITM are responsible for overall design and operation, coordinating with specialized partners in the construction, power, memory, and HVAC sectors. LG’s portfolio includes advanced air- and liquid-cooling solutions that reduce power usage and heat output, positioning the company to play a larger role in the data center market.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the number of data centers in Korea is expected to grow from 147 in 2024 to 637 by 2029 - more than a fourfold increase. LG anticipates that the partnership will lead to broader B2B opportunities beyond data centers, including power plants and commercial buildings.
LG Electronics said the collaboration would allow the company to deliver optimized HVAC solutions tailored to various data center environments, adding that its high-performance, energy-efficient technology was expected to accelerate the growth of its B2B operations.
