Gmarket announced on Monday that it has integrated with Lazada, Southeast Asia’s leading e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba, enabling its 600,000 sellers on Gmarket and Auction to export their products overseas.
Gmarket and AliExpress Korea are subsidiaries of Grand Opus Holding, a joint venture equally owned by Korea’s Shinsegae Group and China’s Alibaba International. Headquartered in Singapore, Lazada is one of Alibaba’s global affiliates and has about 160 million customers across Southeast Asia.
On September 26th, 2025, Shinsegae appointed James Chang, an e-commerce expert who previously managed Lazada, as the new CEO of Gmarket.
With the integration, about 20 million products from small and medium-sized businesses on Gmarket will first be sold through Lazada in five Southeast Asian countries - Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. Gmarket plans to expand distribution gradually to more than 200 countries and regions worldwide where Alibaba operates, including Europe, South Asia, South America, and the United States.
The Lazada integration service emphasizes ease of use. Sellers can link products to Lazada simply by agreeing through Gmarket’s sales management site, ESM PLUS. Product numbers and order numbers are synchronized between the two platforms for efficient management, and product details are automatically translated into local languages.
When sellers send overseas orders to Lazada’s logistics center in Incheon, international shipping and customer service are jointly handled by Gmarket and Lazada. Gmarket said it will continue to support top sellers in seizing new growth opportunities in overseas markets.
