South Korean biopharmaceutical firm Celltrion announced on Monday that it will retire an additional 589,276 treasury shares valued at about 100 billion won ($717 million. The move follows a board resolution, with the cancellation of the shares scheduled for May 21st, 2025. When completed, the total amount of treasury shares that have either been retired or are scheduled for cancellation by Celltrion since January 2025 will total around 900 billion won.
The company also stated that its share repurchases in 2025 to date amount to about 450 billion won, with a company official saying that enhancing shareholder value remains a top priority and that the firm is committed to achieving sustainable growth alongside investors.
Despite the additional share retirement, the stock continued to weaken early Monday following losses from the previous session. Celltrion shares were down 3.42 percent at 152,600 won as of 10:15 a.m. Monday.
