Hyundai Motor Group’s export partners are set to receive 240 billion won ($167.42 million) in support from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) and six major commercial banks.
KB Kookmin Bank, NH Nonghyup Bank, BNK Kyongnam Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, and Hana Bank announced on Tuesday that they signed a memorandum of understanding with KODIT, Hyundai Motor Co., and Kia Corp. to provide financial support for mobility exports.
The initiative, part of the government’s emergency measure to strengthen the automotive ecosystem announced earlier this month, aims to support the global expansion of future mobility.
The program will assist second- and third-tier domestic suppliers participating in joint export projects led by Hyundai Motor and Kia.
Under the MOU, Hyundai Motor and Kia will each contribute 8 billion won, KB Kookmin Bank and NH Nonghyup Bank 2 billion won each, and BNK Kyongnam Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, and Hana Bank 1 billion won each, for a total of 16 billion won in special contributions to KODIT.
With these contributions as its funding base, KODIT plans to provide guarantees amounting to 240 billion won by the third quarter of this year.
