HD Hyundai Electric is expanding its footprint in the global market for ultra-large specialty transformers following the successful export of South Korea’s highest-capacity phase shifting transformer (PST).
The company announced Wednesday that it completed final approval testing for a 653 MVA (megavolt-ampere) PST, which is scheduled for delivery in August 2025 to a wind power project in New York State. The project is being developed by Invenergy, the largest privately held renewable energy company in North America.
Transformers with capacities above 300 MVA are classified as ultra-large, making this 653 MVA unit the largest PST ever produced in Korea.
