Naver Corp. has partnered with Microsoft Corp. to include Xbox’s PC Game Pass as a new benefit in its Naver Plus Membership program, further expanding its suite of digital content offerings beyond video streaming.
The South Korean tech giant announced Wednesday that subscribers to Naver Plus Membership can now choose Microsoft’s PC Game Pass as one of their digital content options.
The Game Pass, available since Tuesday, allows users to play more than 400 Xbox games on PC—including newly released titles from Xbox Game Studios—without the need to purchase each game individually or own a console.
Previously, Naver Plus Membership provided two digital content benefits: 49 digital tokens usable on Naver Webtoon and Series, and a subscription to Netflix’s ad-supported standard plan.
With the addition of Xbox’s PC Game Pass, members now have more diverse entertainment options.
The PC Game Pass typically costs 9,500 won ($6.91) per month, but Naver is offering it at no additional cost beyond its existing membership fee of 4,900 won per month.
The Netflix ad-supported standard plan, valued at 7,000 won, is similarly bundled at no extra charge, making the membership program a cost-effective alternative for Korean users.
This move reflects Naver’s strategy to attract new subscribers by offering high-value digital services.
Following last year’s partnership with Netflix, Naver reported a 1.5-fold increase in average daily sign-ups to its membership program. More than 60 percent of these new users were in their 30s and 40s, considered to be high-spending consumers.
With the Xbox PC Game Pass now part of the package, Naver is aiming to draw in more users in their 20s and 30s, who make up a significant portion of the gaming demographic.
