Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled the ultra-slim large-screen foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, at Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in New York’s Brooklyn.
It was the first Unpacked event in New York in three years following the 2022 event. Known for its creative and innovative vibe, Brooklyn is home to many art and tech companies.
The Z Fold 7 is the thinnest and lightest of the series yet, while maintaining its advantage in large displays. When folded, its display width is 64.9mm - wider than the previous model’s 59.9 mm. When folded, the screen is 11 percent larger, rivaling tablets in size.

Most notably, the 7 series is now equipped with flagship-level performance while previous Z Folds were known for form factor innovation. Its AI capabilities have been upgraded to the same level as the powerful S25 Ultra, transforming it into a foldable optimized for AI.
For example, a user can activate the upgraded multimodal AI assistant Gemini Live through the selfie screen to ask, “How does my outfit look today?” and the AI replies instantly in a voice assistant mode: “You are wearing a bright white outfit. It suits your current location and the weather perfectly.”
Gaming is also more enjoyable on the Z Fold7. While playing the game “Caveman,” using Circle to Search brings up related gameplay videos on YouTube on one side of the screen instantly offers strategy tips when a monster appears.
The Z Fold 7 also inherits the S25 Ultra’s high-end camera system, including a 200MP wide-angle and 10MP telephoto lens capable of capturing the surface of the moon. Photo editing was also enhanced with AI, allowing users to effortlessly remove unwanted backgrounds.
“Galaxy Z Fold7 combines Galaxy AI with powerful hardware to deliver our most advanced smartphone experience yet,” Roh Tae-moon, president and acting head of the device experience division at Samsung Electronics, said. “This next chapter of foldables combines design and engineering, with AI built specifically for the foldable form. It gives people the ultra experience they want - powerful, immersive, intelligent, and portable all in one.”
The Z Fold 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, enabling seamless real-time translation, generative image editing, and more. Compared to the previous model, CPU performance is up by 38 percent and GPU by 26 percent.

The Z Flip 7 is also slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, with an enlarged screen. Featuring the slimmest bezel ever at just 1.25mm, its unfolded thickness is only 6.5mm. The previously introduced Now Bar got a further upgrade which allows users to check real-time app information and manage videos or music more effectively on the cover screen.
The new Now Brief feature offers personalized info recommendations based on location, time, and user habits. Security was also enhanced thanks to a new feature called “Keep,” which creates encrypted, isolated storage per app for securely protecting sensitive information.
The Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the budget-friendly Flip 7FE will be available for pre-order in Korea from July 15th to 21st, 2025, and will be released globally in stages starting July 25th.
