LG Group executives will hold a closed-door tech day event at Honda Motor Co.’s headquarters in Tokyo on Monday, where they will showcase the group’s latest technologies for future mobility.

According to industry sources on Sunday, LG Corp. Vice Chairman Kwon Bong-seok and LG Electronics Inc. Chief Executive Officer Cho Joo-wan, along with other top executives, departed for Tokyo that day. They were joined by LG Energy Solution Ltd. CEO Kim Dong-myung, LG Display Co. CEO Jeong Cheol-dong, and LG Innotek Co. CEO Moon Hyuk-soo.

The two-day event, which will take place through Tuesday, will highlight LG’s core components and solutions for next-generation vehicles, including batteries, infotainment systems, displays, sensors, and lighting. LG’s leadership is also expected to meet with Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe and other senior executives to discuss potential areas of collaboration.

LG Group is cultivating its mobility and vehicle components business as a future growth engine under the direct supervision of Chairman Koo Kwang-mo. The group is pursuing a “one-team” strategy across affiliates, including LG Electronics, LG Energy Solution, LG Innotek, LG Display, LG Magna e-Powertrain Co., and ZKW, to boost competitiveness through internal synergy and direct partnerships with global automakers.

LG held its first tech day in March 2024 at Mercedes-Benz AG’s German headquarters followed by a similar event at Toyota Motor Co.’s Japan headquarters in September of that year. The initiative continues with Honda, as LG looks to deepen strategic ties with global automakers. The “one-team” approach focuses on visiting key clients directly, showcasing its technologies, and converting engagement into new business in 2025. LG is also reportedly in talks to hold tech day events with BMW and Volkswagen groups in Germany.

“Honda is accelerating its transition to electrification. LG’s strategy appears aimed at expanding both its customer base in Japan and its global presence in the vehicle components market,” an industry insider said.
