S25 Edge, the thinnest model ever in its Galaxy S series, as part of a strategy to push the boundaries of smartphone design and AI performance.
Revealed during its “Galaxy S25 Edge: Beyond slim” online event at 9 a.m., the new phone is just 5.8mm thick and weighs only 163 grams. Pre-orders will run from May 14th to 20th, with the official South Korean release set for May 23rd.
Completing the Galaxy S25 lineu, the S25 Edge combines a minimalist form with durability and enhanced on-device AI capabilities.
Compared to other models in the S25 lineup, such as the S25 Ultra (8.2mm, 218g), S25+ (7.3mm, 190g), and S25 (7.2mm, 162g) - the Edge is both the slimmest and among the lightest.
To enhance durability, the front display features Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while a titanium frame and IP68-rated water and dust resistance ensure reliable performance in daily use.
The S25 Edge offers camera specs comparable to the S25 Ultra, including a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Auto-focus has been added for macro photography while the Nightography feature captures sharper low-llight images with pixels enlarged by about 40 percent compared to the S25 and S25+.
Samsung’s next-generation ProVisual Engine improves sharpness and detail, enhancing skin tones in portrait photography. It also includes Galaxy AI features such as audio eraser and sketch-to-image conversion.
The S25 Edge is powered by the Galaxy-exclusive Snapdragon 8 Elite, the most advanced chipset in the S25 series which was co-developed by Samsung Electronics and Qualcomm. This chipset delivers fast and stable on-device AI performance. To further enhance thermal management, the device features a vapor chamber that has been redesigned to be thinner and wider than that of the Galaxy S24. It also supports advanced AI image processing with the ProScaler engine, enabling clear rendering of diverse content. The ProScaler engine boosts AI image rendering, improving display scaling quality by about 40 percent over the S24. Samsung’s mDNIe solution enhances image quality, visibility, and power efficiency.
AI-driven features include “Now Brief” for personalized briefings, “Now Bar” for real-time status updates on the lock screen, and an upgraded “Writing Assist” that now supports text summarization with translation and table-to-image conversions. A real-time visual AI feature co-developed with Google is also included.
Sensitive data processed by AI is secured via Samsung’s Knox Vault, which stores passwords and authentication information separately in a hardware-protected chip.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Ice Blue with two storage options: 256GB at 1,496,000 won ($106.23) and 512GB.
