South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co.’s new Galaxy S25 series, set to launch in the United States on Wednesday local time, is expected to have the same price tag as its predecessor.

According to sources from the telecommunications industry on Monday, the price of the standard Galaxy S25 model with 256 gigabytes (GB) of storage is set at 1.16 million won ($795.62), which is the same as that of the Galaxy S24 standard model released in early 2024.

Additionally, the company is expected to offer a “double storage” promotion, which means that the 512GB variant will be available for the price of 256GB. The 512GB variant of the Galaxy S25 is expected to be priced at 1.31 million won, or a 15,400 won increase from the 1.3 million won price tag of the Galaxy S24’s equivalent model.

The Galaxy S25 Plus and Ultra models are also expected to maintain the same price as their predecessors. The Galaxy S25 Plus model is expected to cost 1.35 million won for the 256GB storage and 1.51 million won for the 512GB variant.

The 256GB model’s price will remain the same as the Galaxy S24 Plus, while the 512GB model will increase by 15,400 won, similar to the standard model. The Galaxy S25 Ultra model is also projected to be priced the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, at 1.7 million won for 256GB and 1.86 million won for 512GB, an increase of 15,400 won.

However, the pricing details for Samsung’s new flagship model, the “Slim,” which is anticipated to be unveiled at the upcoming Unpacked event, are yet to be disclosed.

“There have been reports that the price of the Qualcomm chip expected to be used in the new model has increased by about 30 percent,” an industry insider said. “However, the company appears to have frozen the prices, taking domestic consumers into consideration as exchange rates continue to rise.”

Samsung Electronics is set to hold the “Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025” event in San Jose, the United States, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday local time.

The invitation shows four smartphone corners touching, suggesting the lineup will feature the standard, Plus, Ultra, and new Slim models.

Some design changes are expected, as the invitation image indicates that the sharp edges of the Galaxy S24 series have been rounded while the thickness and weight are also expected to be reduced to enhance convenience. According to foreign media and tipsters, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be 8.2 millimeters thick and 219 grams in weight, which is 0.4mm thinner and 13g lighter than its predecessor. The display size is also expected to increase from the previous 6.79 inches to 6.86 inches.

A key focus of the new model is its enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Industry sources note that the device will likely feature a range of new AI functions, including “YouTube Notes,” which summarizes key points while watching videos, and advanced music search capabilities.
